50 Absolute World offers its residents more amenities than any other tower in the Absolute World community. Not only can residents access the Absolute Club House amenities, but also a variety of exclusive amenities only for 50 Absolute World.
In 2004, an international design competition was held to select the architect for the fourth tower for the Absolute World Complex. Ma Yansong, founder of the architectural design firm, MAD, located in Beijing, China was announced as the winner.
Sales for the condominiums started in May 2007 with construction beginning later that year and anticipated completion in 2009. Once the sales started, the response was so overwhelming that a fifth tower was designed which is now known as 50 Absolute World. The design of this tower was meant to complement the design of 60 Absolute World, not to duplicate it.
Within days of the competition's announcement, the towers became nicknamed the "Marilyn Monroe Towers" due to its curvaceous, hourglass figure likened to the actress Marilyn Monroe.
The project was built by Fernbrook Homes and Citizen Development Group. With the first three towers completed (70 Absolute World, 80 Absolute World, and 90 Absolute World), the last two towers (50 Absolute World and 60 Absolute World) were topped off at 50 and 56 stories.
On June 14th, 2012, the Chicago-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), a non-profit group of architects and engineers, reported that the towers were among the world's best new skyscrapers. You can view an article from The Toronto Star HERE. Also in 2012, the towers came in first place for the Emporis Skyscraper Award which is the world's most renowned architecture prize for skyscrapers. A description of the award can be viewed HERE.
